Paul has been involved with horses since a very young age, having grown up in Wales, with relatives in the horse industry. Being involved with riding, competing, breeding, as well as horse racing, Paul developed a wide range of horse knowledge in his younger years! He furthered his education at the Royal College of Agriculture in Cirencester, England receiving his degree in Agriculture. Upon completion of his college education, Paul worked for the Milk Marketing Board in Wales for 10 years in the bovine reproduction department. Over the past 29 years here in Canada; Paul has been very involved in the horse industry through many different facets. He presently owns a successful Equestrian equipment tack shop (which can be seen at www.horseworld.ca), as well as being an avid rider, competitor, stable owner, horse show organizer and performance horse breeder. |
He has, over the past 5 years, taken a much larger roll in the Canada performance horse breeding industry by holding the position of National President of the Canadian Sport Horse Association. This position has given him the opportunity to learn more about the running of a large breed association, working with Government offices with regards to the Canadian Animal Pedigree Act, as well as learning the management skills needed for a large volunteer based group of people. By working with this association, Paul has gained knowledge that he will be able to use throughout his life within the horse industry. |

Darlene has had a love affair with horses for as long as she can remember! Having begun riding at the age of 10. She rode, trained, managed, cared for and competed as many horses as she could between the age of 12 and 21; having great success in the hunter, jumper & equitation show rings. Upon realizing that she would need to get a real job to continue her love of horses, she returned to school to major in Accounting and Business Finance. These skills came in very handy in later years, once married to Paul! For the past ten years Darlene has been responsible for all the finances for not only the farm and breeding operations but also the tack shop; and has gained much insight into the horse industry, which she did not have as a rider, trainer, and competitor. She is a Regional level competition judge and is working towards her National judging credentials. Along with Paul, Darlene has been involved with all the aspects of developing and improving the Ashland Farm breeding program as well as designing and implementing the marketing programs for the Ashland Farm stallions. With Paul being so involved with the Canadian Sport Horse Association, Darlene has become a stallion and broodmare inspector. |
