Ashland Farm began its breeding program in 1996 with a mare herd of 5 imported European mares and now boasts a herd of 20, ranging from the age of 3 to 23! All of our mares are from European blood from outstanding sires such as Voltaire, Zadoc, Idoctro, Indorado, Beach Boy and many more.
We have always believed in trying to produce the best sport horses possible by starting out with superior broodmares and pairing them with excellent performance stallions from Europe and a few select American individuals or our own top stallions. Ashland has produced many wonderful competition Hunters, Jumpers, Dressage and Event horses over our 10 years of breeding, that have gone on to great careers in the Canadian and US horse industries.
By concentrating on producing performance horses, we have had great success selling our stock to all levels of riders, from amateur riders to professionals including Ian Millar, Jill Henselwood Tommy Serio.
We have produced four breeding stallions to date; one of these being Popeye K, who was named 2005 Hunter of the Year in the US and is now, one of the very few North American breed stallions to be approved with the KWPN. Roman K and Xavier K show exceptional athleticism, both in their gaits & jumping abilities! Our laterst stallion; Bacardi K demonstrates the very best qualities of his sire and dam and will be available for this breeding season to a small select number of mares. We have very high hopes all of these performance stallions.
Over the past ten years Ashland Farm has made available to Canadian breeders eight wonderfully bred performance stallions by way of fresh semen and many, many more exceptional European stallions by way of frozen semen. With the stallions that have stood at Ashland Farm over the past 10 years, we have contributed to producing in excess of 700 foals for the Canadian and US breeding industry.
